Founding member of The National Alliance of Latin-American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC ) and the Confederation of Mexicans Hometown Federations (CONFEMEX). Work and commitment has been recognized trough several awards including the Jose Maria Morelos Award given by the City Council of Morelia, Michoacán for active participation in the defense of migrants’ rights. Member of the International Committee for the First Latin American Migrant Community Summit celebrated in Morelia Michoacán Mexico in 2007. Member of the advisory committee for the Illinois Hispanic Employment Plan and the Community Board of the Triton College. Member of the International Committee of the World Social Forum on Migration. Regional Vice President North East: Jorge Mujica, IL
Born and raised in Mexico, Jorge Mújica has lived in the United States since 1987. An awarded journalist, he publishes an opinion column printed in over 30 newspapers in Mexico and the United States. Elected to serve as a spokersperson for the March 10th Coalition at the heights of the immigration marches in 2006, Mújica has been the most visible face in this movement. Community and labor activist, Mújica also gives frequent speeches, seminars and presentations on the social and historical reasons for immigration and how to achieve a just and fair situation for millions of undocumented immigrants around the world.

Born in Culiacan Sinaloa, Mexico moved to Queretaro at a young age, where at the age of 16 he founded a youth publication to give students a chance to voice their opinion and express themselves. His passion for giving others a voice brought him to the U.S., where he committed himself to improving the quality of lives of all people through education.
Luis graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in communications and Spanish, where he also founded a bilingual youth magazine for the Hispanic college community. He is currently seeking a graduate degree in nonprofit management and leadership. In 2003, Luis participated in the 40th anniversary of the New American Freedom Summer program registering minority voters in Mississippi and Arizona, and serving as a state trainer for new organizers against an anti-immigrant state proposition.
Because of his work lobbying on behalf of immigrant students, in 2005, Luis was invited by Majority Leader, Senator Harry Reid to present on the topic of civic engagement at the first Hispanic Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., and has been a member of several coalitions that defend the rights of students across the country.
In 2009, Luis received the award 40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40 for his continuous work in education and parental involvement programs. In 2010, Luis became the Arizona Organizing Director for Stand for Children, a grassroots advocacy organization to improve public education for all children in Arizona. Luis has the opportunity to learn from parents and educators, and to find a common approach of empowerment through civic participation and the incessant search for improvement in the quality of life of children through education. In 2010 Luis Avila received the National Leadership Award from Staff for Children for his continuous work on improving the lives of children in Arizona, and his support in coaching and developing organizers around the country. Luis is also a nominated writer, director and actor of several theater plays and film in the area of arts for social change.

Ms. Gonzalez was appointed by Governor Mark R. Warner to serve as the Executive Director of the Virginia Business Education Partnership in 2002 and in 2004 was appointed to work at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Re-appointed by Governor Timothy M. Kaine in 2006, she served as the Northern Virginia Outreach Coordinator for the Department of Motor Vehicles until her retirement on 2010.
She is the President of the Board of Directors of The Shirlington Employment and Education Center Inc. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arlington Community Foundation, and the Board of the Virginia Coalition of Latino Organizations.
She is a member of the Arlington Diversity Dialogue Task Force and the Leadership Team of the Arlington Coordinated Community Response to Domestic Violence. She is the President of LULAC COUNCIL 4609 in Arlington and was the LULAC Virginia State Director for 2006-2008. She is a member of the Latino-Jewish Working Group of the Latino and Latin American Institute of the American Jewish Committee. She is a founding member of the Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia and the Mexican-American Coalition for Immigration Reform. She was the chair of the Virginia Latino Advisory Board in 2005-2007. She was the Co-Chair of the Arlington County Complete Count Committee and the Virginia Latino Complete Count Committee, and a member of the Fairfax Complete Count Committee and the Commonwealth of Virginia Complete Count Committee.
Ms. Gonzalez served in the 2003-2005 Advisory Council of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad.
In 1997, Ms. Gonzalez was recognized by the Mexican Government for her community contributions and was awarded the prestigious OHTLI medal.
Ms. Gonzalez came to the U.S. as a Fulbright Scholar and received her Master’s in Education at Catholic University of America.
She is an alumna of Leadership Arlington, Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at University of Virginia, the National Hispana Leadership Institute, and LEAD VA.

Prior to be a member of Hernan Taylor & Lee, Aaron was a corporate attorney, compliance officer and Secretary of the Board of ING Mexico and Latin-American Legal Adviser in ING Insurance Co. working in the corporative filed with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, insurance claims, anti-money laundering rules and conflict resolution in Mexico. He had been working in private sector almost 20 years in companies such as Kimberly Clark and Nestle. Currently (2009-2011) Mr. Ortiz serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Mexicans Abroad with jurisdiction on Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee and is participating in the radio program “GLARH Informa”
